The Indraprastha Engineering College, located in Industrial Area Site 4, will close after the 2024-25 academic year. More than 300 students gathered at the college gate on Thursday, June 2nd to protest this. Angry students demonstrated by blocking the road and shouting anti-management slogans. The police officers who arrived on the scene attempted to persuade the students, but they insisted on written assurances of placement and educational quality. The students ended their dharna at one o'clock in the afternoon after the management assured them in the presence of the SDM and the police.

Foundation of IPEC Ghaziabad:

The first batch of students at Indraprastha Engineering College began in the year 2000. The college is one of the best in the state and is affiliated with Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam University. This includes CS, IT, Mechanical, Civil, and other BTech courses, as well as 2410 BTech four-year students. The administration abruptly decided last week to close the college after the 2024-25 academic year. In addition, the college has ceased accepting applications for the upcoming academic year 2022-23. The first-year students erupted in rage as soon as they learned of the college's impending closure. They began ruckus and sloganeering at the college gate at 9 a.m. on Thursday June 2nd, accusing management of playing with the future. Students carrying placards and posters with anti-management slogans blocked the road. CO Sahibabad Anshu Jain and SHO Lik Road Bijesh Singh arrived at the scene and removed them from the road, promising to speak with management.

Students Reactions On Closure Of IPEC:

Students claimed that the college's closure would reduce the quality of education. They will not even be considered for placement. Sports will follow suit. Many educators have resigned. Following that, the administration summoned the students to the college's Atal Auditorium and answered their questions. According to SDM Vinay Singh, management has agreed to provide written assurance. The meeting with the students on Monday at 12 p.m. will answer all of their questions. Management Secretary and Lalit Jaiswal, a senior social worker from Ghaziabad, also visited the college and met with members of the management to discuss providing all possible facilities to students.

Indraprastha Engineering College, Ghaziabad's senior social worker Lalit Jaiswal is the management's secretary, and former minister and MLA Atul Garg is a member of the state government. In Ghaziabad, he also serves on the boards of Ajay Kumar Garg Engineering College (AKGEC), Krishna Engineering College (KEC), and Krishna Institute of Engineering Technology (KIET). Despite this, the closure of a college is now being discussed. However, the administration claims that if there is a teacher shortage until the college's closure, The students will then be educated by the teachers of these management colleges.

Reason for Closure of IPEC (Indraprastha College Of Engineering - Ghaziabad)

Dr. Piyush Chauhan, educationist and principal of MMH College, stated that youth interest in engineering has declined in recent years. The reason for this is that even after paying a fee of lakhs of rupees, students are only offered jobs worth 20-25 thousand rupees. The number of institutes such as IITs and NITs has been increased by the government. As a result, children are increasingly gravitating toward government institutions rather than private ones. This is why the number of students is constantly decreasing in relation to the number of seats available in all private colleges. In the last two to three years, many private colleges have closed.
